Overwatch is an objective-based game produced by Blizzard, that plays similarly to Team Fortress. It has a great storyline and background and a vivid community of players. It's team based, with 6 players on each team. There are currently a selection of 22 heroes although a new hero, Sombra, is due out by Christmas in this next patch. Each hero fits a different role including offense, defense, tank, and support. Each hero has unique weapons, abilities, and their "ultimate" signature move that builds over time.
There are 3 different games that vary by map:
On Escort and Hybrid, if the payload reaches its destination, the attacking team wins. If both the timer and Overtime run out, the defending team wins.
On Assault, if the attacking team captures both control points, they win. If not, the defending team wins.
Control maps are scored as a best-of-three.
You unlock new cosmetic items and skins by leveling up and opening lootboxes. The artwork is impressive, character detail is smooth, and the feel that the voice over creates adds a lot to the game. Mostly though, it's just a lot of fun. There's a quickplay mode that is not structured, and a competitive mode that doesn't allow duplicate characters. Voice comms are built in, and critical to real team success. If you get a chance to download and try it out, I think you will enjoy it.
